Countries with the most islands — the full ranked list
The complete ranking of countries with the most islands, in order, with what the ranking counts and how firm the figures behind it are. Free reference, no sign-up — and the guessing game that plays the same list.
Official island counts, which only about fifty-six countries actually publish — the rest have never counted, so the list ends rather than estimates. Indonesia calls itself the world's largest archipelago and doesn't make the top five; Sweden alone counts over a quarter of a million.
The figures behind this ranking move over time, so the order is right for now rather than fixed.
